Stuff that actually happens

OK so most of you are bored of seeing that wordy post from us and we do agree that it's getting stale, hence a new wordy post.

As promised, we do have some things coming up, chief of which is the CCA Drive that will be held from the 28th - 30th April. Our booth will be located at the SP Sports Hall and we do wish, beg, grovel and pray that you come down and see our planes in all their glory, not to mention to support our club. Many club members have slaved under the relentless whips of the merciless ExCos (Ed: some ExCos did get flogged too, sheesh) to set up a booth that definitely looks better than the crummy treehouses of old that passed for a stand. And just to prove our point...

See, we told you so. Doesn't it look smashing? We think so. Compared to other years' efforts - if any - this booth should look the most attractive by far. That means cameras, people. Cameras.

Next on the list to update you our dear reader is our
Aeromodeling Session (Phase 1) which was held on the 23rd of April. I shall let the pictures speak for themselves, so that we do not have to type a thousand words...

We learned to fashion planes out of Styrofoam (DEPRON) which included the F/A-18 and F-5 plane models. For a little background, Depron foam is a closed cell polystyrene sheet. It is extremely lightweight, moisture resistant & has diverse a range of uses such as Aeromodeling and floor insulation.

Continuing from where we left off, next week will be phase 2 of the Aeromodeling session. According to our exalted President He-Who-Is-Edwin-Almighty, it will be trickier this time round, what with sanding the sheets to shape and piecing the, well, pieces together. Very exiting, we promise.

Time 3.30pm - 5.30pm

Meeting Place: FC5218, SP Aviation Club Room

CCA points given!

New comers feel free to join!

If you're coming along, we also do require you to pay an absolutely biblical sum of $1 (one dollar). It will not go toward paying for our cheeseburgers but for the aeromodeling materials.

On that bombshell, we hope to see you at our coming activities and we wish you great success in your studies!

Migration of blog and upcoming news!

Hi there, all SPAVC members (and whichever lost soul who stumbles upon this page)!

Rumour has it that we've shifted to a new address after a grand total of just slightly over half a week in operation from another address. And it's true! From now on you can check in here on the latest developments in the club, dates of weekly activites, interact with your fellow clubmates and much, much more! We hope to make a community out of you people through this blog. As this is our first time moderating our own website we endeavour to make it as interesting and engaging as possible but it isn't possible with just us thinking of improvements, and so WE WANT YOU to give us as much feedback as possible! Good or bad, we welcome all. Comment away!

On to the more serious stuff now. We know that at SPAVC we have been less than enthusiastic in our endeavours of late and we do humbly grovel and beg for forgiveness. But fret not, we're not our old selves after some good R&R during the holidays (we know it wasn't much of a holiday but any day without school is still a cause for celebration). As of today, we're going to gear up and make ourselves look good again.

Starting from this week, we have arranged a thoroughly exciting and deeply engaging buffet of activities designed specially to keep you interested in Aviation and the club as a whole. Lined up for you for next week are some lessons that include aeromodelling and even actual flying of our very own model aeroplanes. We promise to let you have a go at the controls.

Also lined up for the very first time in our club's most illustrious history is an activity most of you are familiar with which is called a camp. It involves the pitching of tents, early morning marches and trench digging. We kid. This camp will be an absolutely fun-filled event all the way through. We have on board a responsible and dedicated group of people who are tasked to ensure that proceedings run smoothly (guys, get to work...) and that any possible foul-ups are anticipated and dealt with.

That pretty much sums it all up we think. And on that bombshell we want to wish you an exciting week ahead.

FLy High!
